Description
Hulled buckwheat kernels are the whole, clean germ of the buckwheat plant which has been stripped of the seed coat (decorticated). The kernels have a triangular shape and have a light green to tan colour and a fresh nutty flavour. The bushes have been organically grown, without the use of herbicides, pesticides or fungicides. During processing the buckwheat kernels are not subjected to any sterilizing treatment or chemical process that would render them unfit for organic status.
Buckwheat is an all natural source for a majority of nutrients that we require daily. It is the best known source of high quality, easily digestible protein in the plant kingdom. Buckwheat is also a great source for minerals, vitamin B, potassium, phosphorus, dietary fibre and vitamin P, which contains the flavonoid rutin. Rutin reduces cholesterol and keeps the capillaries and arteries strong and flexible.The reason for the incredibly high protein content is that buckwheat containers all of the eight essential amino acids which the body cannot produce. As well as having these amino acids, buckwheat is a complex carbohydrate which means the body can meet its fuel needs without burning protein.
